We had AL’s farewell lunch yesterday… *sigh* Another one gone~ ppl who r closer to me have all left. So sad… was telling JY I felt very “kong1 xu1” today. Something seems to be missing… But wat to do “parting” is a part of life. Ppl come & go~ During the lunch, SHE mentioned tat she saw the potential of AL goin into business/sales. SHE put the blame on Caine, accusing him of being the culprit, the bad influence! SHE mentioned that she doesnt like us to talk to Sales rep cos they may poach us. Then SHE specially instructed AL not to poach anyone from the lab (hinting him not to poach me away cos she was looked at him then at ME!!!) Shall we paste AL’s pic outside the lab & put an NO ENTRY sign *evil grinz*
On the way back (We walked back to NCC from Smith Street), BS asked if SHE is looking for a post doc… once bitten twice shy, SHE is afraid that post doc wont stay long in the lab. SHE wont be taking any in unless someone recommends her one. I told her, “please find a good looking & decent single man.” SHE replied, “then u will stay isit? When they come interview, I’ll let u scan thr’ first?” Duno SHE is being sarcastic or wat…
HUH???!!! Did I say I’m leaving the lab? Is SHE anticipating that I’m goin to leave soon? Does SHE really think AL will poach me over to do sales? Ya… employ a cute hunk post doc jus to keep the small fry lab tech with u. Crazy!!!
My 1st job offer was from RB… I don’t like the place the working environment…. So unfriendly.. tats why I rejected the offer on the 1st day of work (contract wasn’t signed yet – Thank God). Seeing ppl joined & left RB, I knew I made a right choice. Perhaps now the situation is different… *shrugs* Sales is still not my cup of tea. I love science since young… the passion for it. But now… I seem to have lost it. Ppl r still doing research to do good for mankind… but, publish scientific papers, reputation & grant $ is the top priority. True… it’s a cycle thing… reputation>papers>$>papers>reputation
Even JW anticipated that I’ll leave after AL. He said I wont wan to stay here & face the PRCs alone… Those who r Singaporean, I cant get along well with them (I’m ok with HER).
Long sigh…. Everyone is askin when I’m leaving… where can I go? “Wo3 Gai1 He2 Qu4 He2 Chong2~”
